Whats on at the Sherman Theatre – November 2016

As most of my readers know I absolutely love the theatre! As a child and teen I would spend most of my time on stage singing, dancing and acting.

As a 30 year old Mother of two I now spend my time looking after my boys, writing and helping as much as I can with Charity work, campaigning and raising awareness of mental health.

I have just seen the whats on at the Sherman Theatre guide and I just had to share it with my readers!

25 Nov – 31 DecThis Christmas the Sherman takes you on another musical family adventure with The Borrowers.
Discover the secret world of Pod, Homily and Arrietty, whose lives are turned upside down by a dangerous encounter ‘above the floorboards’.

Our cast and creative team are currently in week two of rehearsals, exploring the tiny world of our characters.  We’ll be sharing snippets and updates from the rehearsal room, so keep an eye out on our website and social media from updates from our cast and crew.

Last Christmas The Princess and The Pea / Dywysoges ar Bysen Fechan Fach, saw young audiences from across South Wales captivated by the magic of our retelling of the Hans Christian Anderson tale.

This year we’re reuniting with Theatr Iolo to create another musical adaptation from the great children’s storyteller; The Emperor’s New Clothes / Dillad Newydd yr Ymerawdwr, to inspire little people’s imaginations and help you create those all-important festive memories.

With a script written by Wales Theatre Award winning writer Alun Saunders and directed by Theatr Iolo’s Artistic Director, Kevin Lewis the production promises to continue the high quality family entertainment that audiences have come to expect from Christmas at the Sherman.

The Emperor demands the coolest clothes to help him be, well, ‘cool’…
The call is answered by a pair of wily Weavers, who concoct a cunning plan and land everyone in an embarrassing situation. Audiences will discover their silly again as the Emperor’s adventure rekindles his lost childhood joy.

Be one of the first to see the show this weekend before it goes off on a tour of south Wales before returning to the Sherman for its official Christmas performances. To find out more about the tour click here.

This is a boy meets girl story. Son of a Polish taxidermist meets daughter of a failing ice cream salesman at a medical research facility in Merthyr Tydfil. First date in Tesco and things are going well.

Love, Lies and Taxidmery is an offbeat love story about Mr. Tutti Frutti, a stuffed owl and the struggle to fit in from local writer Alan Harris (BBC Radio 4; Invisible Ink; National Theatre Wales; Sherman Theatre).
