PROCESSIONS, Cardiff 2018 – A day in pictures celebrating the 100th anniversary of votes for women

Yesterday myself, sister in law and mother in law joined thousands of women to celebrate the 100th anniversary of votes for women in Cardiff.

We attended PROCESSIONS, a day in which women came together to create a vast participatory artwork taking place simultaneously for one day in London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

PROCESSIONS is to be a living portrait of UK women in the 21st century.

The event itself was fantastic, with beautiful sunny weather, everyone was happy. It really was such a glorious day.

We met at the Cardiff City Football Stadium and then took a 2.1 mile walk through the City until we finished the day at Bute Park.

The event was full of character and diversity, it was great to see the young and old walk together in memory and to honour the Suffragettes and all other women who really do make a difference in the World.

As I walked with my ‘sisters’ I felt empowered and proud to be part of such an amazing movement.

The event was managed well, timings and group coordination was suburb. It was reassuring to see a police presence for our safety.

Below you will find pictures and videos of the day. Please do let me know in the comments below if you spot yourself!

Whilst at the event I found some lovely ladies who took the time to talk to me about their banners and what inspired them to create them.

Beautiful singing which made the walk more fun!
