Kids are back at school, I am sat at home thinking about the lovely day trips we took over the summer break.
I flick through my phone photo gallery and spot some beautiful pictures of Tenby.
Tenby is a beautiful place to visit and with it being roughly 2 hours from my hometown Cardiff by train, I wonder why it has taken me so long to make this trip.
I don’t drive and with two boys aged 3 and 5 travelling can be somewhat hectic.
Getting the train was a breeze. I packed up the pram with buckets, spades and some snacks for the train…The boys were jumping with excitement! I think just the fact that they are going on a train makes them feel more excited about the day trip.
We arrive at our platform and board the train. ‘Mum, I’m thirsty’ Oh no…I’ve only gone and forgotten to pack some drinks!
I don’t have time to get off the train to get some, I explain my drama to the conductor. ‘There is no refreshment cart for a little while’ he says. Agghh…What am I going to do.
I sit back down and suddenly the train conductor appears! Aww bless his heart, he gives me two bottles of water for the boys…he didn’t want paying, this was just a kind gesture from an Arriva train conductor.
We arrive at Tenby.
Tenby is a harbour town and resort in southwest Wales. It’s known for its 13th-century town walls and its stretches of sandy shoreline, including Castle Beach.
If you have never visited Tenby you really need too! Its such a beautiful place to visit.
It only takes us 10 minutes to walk from the train station into the town.
After taking some pictures of the town and spending way to much money in the old fashioned sweet shop, we head down to the beach. The boys enjoyed paddling their feet in the clear sea water and building sand castles. I enjoyed relaxing and catching some sun.
Beach time fun!!
If you like seafood you need to visit Tenby! All restaurants serve locally freshly caught fish. We went for lunch in a family friendly pub, the food prices were very reasonable and the food was great.
After a long day we headed back. The boys were tired so they fell asleep. My husband and I relaxed, charged our phones and made use of the free WiFi.
