We were kindly invited to attend Cinderella at The RiverFront, Newport. #ad #gifted #presstrip #review (We paid for two out of the four tickets)
Last night we attended the spectacular pantomime performance of Cinderella at the RiverFront, Newport.
Starring the beautiful Laura Meaton as Cinderella, the fabulously funny Keiron Self as Buttons, the dashing Gareth Tempest as Prince Charming and the ugliest of Ugly Sisters Geraint Rhys Edwards and Richard Elis. Cinderella was filled with silly slapstick, magical mayhem, music and laughter.
Bigger and more magical than ever, this fun filled pantomime had the whole family excited. Before we took to our seats we enjoyed a drink and some festive nibbles in the bar. We also made use of the fantastic props.
The boys really enjoyed the dressing up box, Harry especially liked a crown and fluffy waistcoat! He stayed in his new attire throughout the whole performance. Ethan enjoyed the craft area where they colored in some pictures of Cinderella. However, nothing compared to the amazing Cinderella inspired cake that was shared with the press room.
The bell chimed, it was time to take our seats. We sat on the balcony and had the perfect view of the stage. The stage set was magical, using colorful backdrops, it captivated the audience.
From the opening scene, Cinderella had my children smiling and jumping. The traditional story of Cinderella was told with a modern twist, references to Newport and up to date music and songs.
As with all pantomimes, the audience participation is a must and Cinderella offered the audience a chance to get involved. The performance was engaging and kept us all on our feet.
The amazing Buttons (Keiron Self) was a favorite character of mine. He made the audience cheer and laugh with his clumsy comical ways. Cinderella (Laura Meaton) was quite simply breathtaking, the beautiful actress brought Cinderella to life. Her voice was amazing.
I particularly loved the romantic scenes between Cinderella and Prince Charming (Gareth Tempest). Portraying the loved up pair with ease, I really enjoyed the song and dance to ‘Sucker For You’ (Jonas Brothers) and I don’t think I was alone. The audience joined in with the singing.
Who can forget the Ugly Sisters, portrayed by Geraint Rhys Edwards and Richard Elis, the ugly sisters brought the slap stick comedy and laughter to the performance. With a few ‘Oh No Its Not’ and ‘Oh Yes It Is’ the comical duo had the audience engaged and laughing. They played the sisters with ease and were a joy to watch.
The whole performance was a musical enriched extravaganza! I loved how they added the modern twists. The music, choreography and stage direction was superb. The costume design was brilliant and very well fitted to the performance, especially the attire of the ugly sisters!!
All in all Cinderella was the perfect pantomime treat for all the family. It is this years MUST SEE pantomime!!
Cinderella will be showing from Thursday 28th November – Saturday 4th January.
