Today we were invited to sample the Festive Feast menu at Benugo, John Lewis, Cardiff #Review #ad #gifted
Today we were invited to sample the Festive Feast menu at Benugo, John Lewis, Cardiff. We have attended sample events at Benugo in the past but always get excited when it comes to sampling the Christmas menu.
Benugo is the perfect place to relax and rest your legs after a day of shopping, the produce is always fresh, mouth watering and affordable. The Christmas menu is amazing, with Gingerbread Chai Latte’s, Vegan Mince Pie Slices and Turkey, Bacon and Cranberry Bloomers. The festive menu really gets you in the mood for Christmas.
Our sample meal started with a festive hot drink. I opted for the Salted Caramel Flat White and Welsh Daddy had the Gingerbread Chai Latte. Both drinks were Christmassy and warm. We then went on to sample the Festive Feast menu:
Pulled Ham & Smoked Cheddar Baguette
The honey and clove ham was lean and tender, the smoked cheddar was creamy and moreish. The English chutney with cider and wholegrain mustard mayo complemented the multigrain baguette and ham perfectly.
Festive Vegan Feast Bloomer (Vegan)
The Festive Vegan Feast Bloomer was a pleasure to try. The nut roast and crispy onion added a lovely crunch to the delicious chilli jam, parsnip, hummus and grilled carrot. This was one of my favourites.
Turkey, Bacon and Cranberry Ciabatta
The Turkey, Bacon & Cranberry Ciabatta was a perfectly suited combination of British turkey, crispy bacon, pork & sage stuffing, cranberry sauce, horseradish mayo and spinach. The meat was lean and the bacon was cooked to perfection.
Brie & Cranberry Ciabatta (Veggie)
I didn’t try the Brie, Cranberry & Bacon Ciabatta, I am not a lover of brie. Welsh Daddy did try the ciabatta, he said the cranberry sauce, bacon and brie was a delight. The wholegrain mustard mayo was different but worked well with the cranberry.
Festive Nut Roast Wrap (Vegan)
We didn’t try the wrap.
Turkey, Bacon & Cranberry Bloomer
The Turkey, Bacon & Cranberry Bloomer was Christmas in a sandwich!! The bread was delicious and soft. The pork and sage stuffing complimented the British turkey, horseradish mayo and spinach well.
After our plates were collected we enjoyed another hot drink. This time I had a Gingerbread Chai Latte and Welsh Daddy had the Salted Caramel Flat White. I thought the gingerbread chai latte was Christmas in a cup! The warm spices tantalised my taste buds.
Whilst sipping our festive warm drinks the sweet samples were brought out.
Mince Pie Slices
Welsh Daddy really enjoyed this sweet treat. Now vegan, the mince pie slice is really fruity, moist and had a crumbly topping. The almonds on top were a nice touch, the slice went well with the gingerbread chai latte.
White Forest Cookies
Ethan loved the White Forest Cookies, he is not usually a fan of cranberries but he enjoyed this sweet treat. He ate 2 of them!!
Lebkuchen Gingerbread Squares
Welsh Daddy loved the Lebkuchen gingerbread squares. The squares were moist on the inside and crunchy on the outer, the gingerbread was not over powering and the crystallised ginger on top complimented the gingerbread.
After our sample menu we had a look around John Lewis. Located on the 3rd floor is Edgar, the excitable dragon from this years John Lewis advert. The boys fell in love with him and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to have my picture taken with him!
On the 2nd floor was a Santa’s grotto! Inside the grotto was a Christmas tree, presents and a lovely arm chair. The boys asked for a picture inside!
We had a lovely day! Thank you Benugo and John Lewis for inviting us!!!
