Located in the Old Library on the Hayes in Cardiff is The Cardiff Story Museum
The Cardiff Story Museum has been a favourite place of ours since we discovered Dinky Dragons a few years back.
Dinky Dragons is free family fun for 0-5 year olds on the 2nd Friday of each month. You can drop in anytime between 10am and 3pm for messy play and crafts. If stories are your thing pop along at 11am or 1pm for rhyme and story time.
Today marked the 5th year of the Cardiff Story Museum so what better way to celebrate it than them having a birthday party!!
Of course everyone was welcome and the kiddies and I just had to be a part of it.
They put on quite a party with free balloons and badges, children’s craft activities, face painting, party games, rhyme time and story time. There was live music by Shipbuilding band and the Sororitas female voice choir.
We even had the pleasure of listening to the Adamsdown song by the beautiful Jessica Hornby(from Educating Cardiff) and got to hear the launch of The Cardiff Song with Jon Blake. The songs were really catchy and my little ones enjoyed dancing to them.
To finish the party off they cut into and shared a very impressive cake made by Cara from Polka Dot Teapot Tearooms in Llantrisant.
I couldn’t eat the cake because of my lactose intolerance but my friend said the cake was absolutely delicious (it looked it) and as it was made by Cara who won Cardiff’s Cake Off competition in 2014 and who had appeared on Channel 4’s Kirstie’s Homemade Christmas I just had to take a piece home for the hubby to try haha.

I didn’t know this existed but what an excellent idea for kids. Anything that encourages children to have fun learning is brilliant.
Gosh I’ve never heard of this. How shameful. The party looked fab. That cake is absolutely amazing x
