We were invited to the LAP LAND press night
Silverstone has Christmas all wrapped up this year with the launch of a brand-new, COVID safe Christmas extravaganza for all the family, LAP LAND.
Just a stones throw away from the magical light show is The Silverstone Experience – A museum dedicated to F1. We got to check it out before heading to LAP LAND – The Silverstone Experience.
If you are in the area, I highly recommend you taking a look.
Introducing an entirely new concept to the UK at the home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, LAP LAND is the hottest ticket around, offering an unrivalled, unique, experience that will create the most memorable, magical festive moments.
Launching on 10 December, LAP LAND runs through until 3 January and will only be closed on Christmas Day.
In the comfort and safety of your own cars, visitors will drive on the iconic Silverstone Formula 1 track under darkness and be treated to a spectacular laser and light show around the circuit at this theatrical Christmas attraction.
A dedicated Radio Station added to the festivities. This provided us with a musical backdrop as we drove along the track, it also informed us of special effects that were coming up. We had a fab time singing along to some seasonal favourites.
Elves met us at the start line and gave us a happy wave. As we drove along the track we passed some garages that were lit up displaying some F1 vehicles. We also saw a silhouette of elves hard at work making toys in the garage.
Around every turn our eyes were met with a new light display. The laser light display was amazing and funnily enough seemed to dance along with the Christmas music that was playing on the Radio Station.
Our favourite part of the experience was taking a look at the large luminated Christmas baubles.
Inside each bauble was a new Christmas theme. Santa and an elf were in the last bauble, we gave him a happy wave as we drove past.
LAP LAND in a nutshell is a leisurely tour of the Silverstone track. The experience is 30 to 40 minute long, giving visitors plenty of time to wonder at the dazzling illuminations.
Once our drive was over we continued our journey to the LAP LAND drive-in cinema, here we joined other eager visitors to watch The Snowman.
We had around 15 minutes to use the toilet facilities and get some hot drinks and sweet snacks before the movie began.
We tuned into a new radio frequency to listen to the movie.
My boys loved the movie, it was the highlight of the whole experience. Whilst watching the movie I got a tad emotional. The children have been feeling so isolated this year as a result of Covid-19. Most events have been cancelled so this was a much needed escape for them.
I highly recommend LAP LAND at Silverstone, it’s a real treat for the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
